Native perennial of damp meadows and forest edges throughout Honshū, Shikoku, and Kyūshū. Sends up pale-pink panicles in early summer. Prefers consistently moist soil and part shade. An important nectar source for native bees and butterflies.

Usage

Bog gardens, streamsides, shaded perennial beds. Will dry out fast in containers — keep the saucer wet.
